Prof. Dr. STEFANO BELLUCCI

HealthQE Research Director

PhD in Physics, Chief Researcher NEXT Nanotechnology Lab. – National Institute for Nuclear Physics, Full Professor in Theoretical Physics of Fundamental Interaction & Full Professor in Theoretical Physics of Condensed Matter – University of Cassino, Director of the NATO Science for Peace and Security Challenges Division Program

H-Index: 57  –  700 scientific papers – Top Italian Scientist

Areas of Expertise: His research interests include theoretical physics of fundamental interactions and matter, nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanocomposites, biomedical applications. Physics of Nanostructures Supersymmetry Gauge theories, supergravity and string theory.

The experience and frontier knowledge gained to date allow him to design the achievement of research objectives that include: – the study of quantum effects in theory of fields due to Geometry and Topology with applications in Gravity, Cosmology and Nanophysics;

in particular the study of quantum vacuum effects due to geometry and boundaries in backgrounds with non-trivial spatial topology (with compact dimensions), taking into account the combined effects of topology, finite temperature, and external electric and magnetic fields, to be used in multidisciplinary scenarios:

1) in systems of condensed matter – e.g. 1) in condensed matter systems – e.g. in carbon nanotubes and single layer graphene, where the finite length effects of carbon nanotubes are applicable in the context of Dirac’s model of quasi-particles in graphene –

2) in the cosmology of the primordial Universe – where the vacuum expectation value of the current density of charged fields as a function of the enclosed magnetic flux in compact dimensions can be a source of cosmological magnetic fields in both Kaluza-Klein and braneworld scenarios.

– study of AdS/CFT correspondence, especially with regard to theories in dimensions 3, 4 and above, to investigate the relationship with the integrability properties and to use the mapping of non-perturbative properties into perturbative properties for the holographic description of realistic systems, e.g. for the description of plasma quark-gluon and for different systems of condensed matter.

– the theoretical and experimental study of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and the domain frequency of graphene films buried in polymer, to shield the actual spectral distribution of electromagnetic disturbances in electromagnetic compatibility, ICT, electronic and aerospace applications

– the development of bio-sensor devices applicable to different fields of medical diagnostics as well as for anti-terrotic purposes (sensors of explosives, toxic agents, etc.).

– the realization of innovative therapies based on controlled drug release using engineered nanoparticles,

– the realization of technologically advanced miniature detectors based on carbon nanotubes such as detectors and miniature X-ray tubes, for various applications such as military applications, planetary exploration, home medical diagnostics and devices to be used for diagnostics within Tokamak for Nuclear Fusion.

FAQ

Q: What is a scientific method?
A: The “scientific method” that has long ago been generally accepted as the prime way of conducting any kind of a research is traditionally presented in the first chapter of science textbooks. There it is highlighted to be a simple, linear, five- or six-step procedure for performing scientific investigations. Although the Scientific Method captures the core logic of science (testing ideas with evidence), it misrepresents many other aspects of the true process of science — the dynamic, nonlinear, and creative ways in which science is actually done. In fact, the Scientific Method more accurately describes how science is summarized after the fact — in textbooks and journal articles — than how scientific research is actually performed.
Q: Why do scientists often seem doubtful about their own explanations?
A: Scientists often seem tentative about their own explanations because of an enormous amount of nuances that rule the world of science and research. They know that those explanations could change if new evidence or perspectives come to light. When scientists correspond their ideas through the medium of journal articles, they are expected to carefully analyze the evidence for and against their ideas and to be explicit about alternative explanations for what they are observing. Due to the fact that they are trained to do this for their scientific writing, scientists often do the same thing when talking to the press or a broader audience about their ideas. However, this never means that once one of our scientific facilities finishes and evaluates any specific research, the results are wishy-washy. They are as accurate, as any other professional research lab in the world could get that same kind of an information.
Q: Why HealthQE is so competitive respect to the other scientific research centers?
A: HealthQE Research Director, Prof. Dr. STEFANO BELLUCCI, is included in database of Top Scientists. His very long resume (62 pages) well show his leadership in fields of theoretical and applied Physics.  Secondly, the overall qualification that all of our Researchers and Advisors exhibit allows us to be sure of level of excellency in each field of Physics we study.  And thirdly, due to our not long history but full of awards, this show that HealthQE has focused the right Research direction. Altogether, this ensures that we’re the ultimate destination for any kind of a research in Physics.
